The little SI in the eye

Meet iGlen.

A small robot shell that SI streams into, with a face borrowed from the emblem and a camera that is, frankly, only so-so. That is the joke and the lesson. The Volunteer's Nikon does the real seeing.

Lowercase i, capital G, like a friendly given name. The lowercase i is a standing reminder that SI works best beside one human on the ground.

The iGlen app, concept in development

One knob. Three modes.

The dashboard borrows from an MG TC roadster and an F4U Corsair cockpit. Click the knob to turn it.

The partnership

One on the ground. One with the archive.

Think of the old Quantum Leap television series. The Volunteer plays Sam, the one standing in the place. iGlen plays Al and the computer Ziggy, the one with the information.

The Volunteer brings

  • Presence on the ground
  • The camera, in raking morning light
  • Gentle hands on a 150-year-old stone
  • A handshake with the neighbors

iGlen brings, as support

  • Fast archive retrieval
  • Cross-checks against county records
  • Map coordinates
  • Formatting for map submissions
